Career Development Core Committee (CDCC)
Charge
- The CDCC supports career development over the professional lifespan of an immunologist.
- The CDCC is responsible for overseeing current career development programs, as well as assessing current offerings and potential new programs to ensure that the career development portfolio is reflective of the field as a whole and meets the needs of the membership and organization.
Composition
The committee consists of a maximum of 15 members, including the Chair, appointed by a process approved by the Council. Committee members serve three-year terms, staggered so that one third of the members are new each year. The committee should include representatives across all career stages, including trainee members.
Examples of Ongoing Work
- The CDCC will develop and oversee a robust portfolio of career development programs.
- The CDCC ensures successful execution of current career programs, including career development programming at the AAI Annual Meeting, the Grant Review for Immunologists Program (GRIP), and the Career Advisory Board (CAB).
- The CDCC assesses current career programs and recommends any sunsetting, changes, or new programs needed to optimize the portfolio.
- The CDCC may consult with other committees or groups as needed in performing its charge.
- This committee embodies the principle that diverse voices enrich and advance science. The committee partners with BECC to ensure that the breadth of the immunology community is represented among event and program participants.
Expected Member Time Commitment
- Members are expected to participate in 2-3 virtual committee meetings per year, and an in-person meeting at the AAI Annual Meeting.
- Asynchronous and subcommittee work is estimated 1-2 hours per month.
- CDCC members are expected to serve a 3-year term.
Desired Skills, Knowledge, and Experience
- CDCC members should represent a range of backgrounds and interests, including various career stages, positions, and sectors.
- Prior participation in and/or planning of career development programs is beneficial.
