Shimon Sakaguchi, M.D., Ph.D.
Brief Bio
Dr. Sakaguchi is a professor emeritus at Kyoto University and Distinguished Professor at Osaka University. After earning his medical degree and Ph.D. at Kyoto University, Dr. Sakaguchi was a postdoctoral research fellow at Johns Hopkins University and Stanford University. Before returning to Japan in 1991, he was an assistant professor at Scripps Research.
In Japan, he has worked at Riken, a national scientific research institute; at the Department of Immunopathology at the Tokyo Metropolitan Institute of Gerontology; at the Institute for Frontier Medical Sciences of Kyoto University, where he was director 2007–11; and since 2011 at Osaka University.
